Maria: Notes
How does the shared Austria/Pragmatic Army movement phase work?
Since both powers are allowed to move their pieces freely at the same time, there's a button for [Austria] or [Pragmatic Army] to pass control to your rival to move their pieces.
Use the [Restart] button to start over in case you need to undo all your moves. Be careful when using this button because it undoes BOTH player's moves! If you cannot agree on the order of movement, use the [Dispute] button. This will force you to alternate moving pieces on the Flanders map.
Once all the pieces on the Flanders map have moved, these buttons will no longer be available.
IMPORTANT: Move your Flanders pieces first! If your rival uses the [Restart] or [Dispute] buttons your Bohemian moves will also be undone!
How do I make a deal?
Deals in Maria are binding!
In order to remember what deals have been made, use the "Propose deal" menu item to write down the terms and duration. Deals that have been noted this way will be tracked on the political display.
Only the currently active player can propose deals, but they can propose a deal between any of the powers.
The system will enforce subsidy contracts, but you must use the "Create subsidy" menu to create subsidies for the system to recognize them and deal the cards appropriately.
How do I transfer troops?
You can transfer troops before you move a stack. Transfer troops between the moving and non-moving general using the [Give] and [Take] buttons.
How do I eliminate a supply train to re-enter it?
Click the [Re-enter] button, pay the necessary TCs, then you can select an eliminated or on-map ST to immediately re-enter them at their major fortress.
Which deck do the cards come from?
Hold down shift to see the reverse side of card in hand and in the game log. On mobile you can click the all-seeing eye to toggle this display.
Which roads did a general use to move?
If you mouse-over the movement entry in the log, the path taken will light up on the map. Click the entry and the destination city will scroll into view.
How many cards are in each discard pile?
Each visible card in a pile represents approximately 5 cards.
Why can I see (and count) other player's hands?
In live play you can keep track of what other players are holding and playing if you pay attention. Since the information is always available by studying the game log, the only obfuscation we add is making it visually annoying to count the exact numbers.
